The original "best sushi anywhere?" message thread is probably our most popular thread, but has been getting ridiculously long in terms of scrolling through it on screen.
I'm starting this new thread in hopes for more recent posts to be easily seen and not buried amongst so many older posts.
So, where is the very best sushi anywhere in the world?!?

Re: Best Sushi Anywhere... continued
Sat, February 19, 2005 - 11:32 AMWell, I've tried sushi at a couple of places which were highly ranked on Citysearch in Portland, OR, but I didn't think they compared very well to the best places in San Francisco. Probably more of a knock on Citysearch than the truly best sushi in Portland.
In SF, I've recently really enjoyed
Hamano
Ino
Koo
Blue Fin (my personal favorite) -

D.C. area - Yamatzo's (try the japanese lasagna...no really)
Raleigh, NC - Sushi Tsune (GREAT GREAT atmosphere - small & intimate)
Asheville, NC - Sushi-do (don't let the inland location fool you. Great sashimi)

Re: Best Sushi Anywhere... continued
Fri, February 25, 2005 - 1:33 PMWell Hell! Id chip in 10 bucks if you went. I live in spokane, and I love Mashikos. Hajime is a great person as well as a great Chef. The menu is wonderfully long, and Omaksae is the best way to go if youre new. My wife and I have stopped going to our local Sushi joint, for the same reason you are not supposed to eat fairy food. once you try, normal food never is good enough.
I undersatnd that 10 bucks isnt much, especially when you compare it with a 50 to 80$ per person, if you eat the best there. -

Re: Best Sushi Anywhere... continued (Best of Sushi list)
Fri, February 25, 2005 - 3:21 PMHey, if you all keep this subject going, In about a month or so, I'll put together a list of all your suggestiong of these places all over the place for us world travellers,... I travel a lot and I'm telling you, there's times when I'm far from home and the only thing that I want is great sushi!!!! Keep the posts coming and I promise to get to this list eventually and I'll post it in this tribe... also, if you want to make a negative recommendation, I'm open to that... I HATE getting food poisoning from sushi and I'm always the first to tell other of my bad experiences in regards to sushi,... I might not have a pallet as acute as Emeril or Julia Child and I don't mess around when it come to getting sick from sushi! Do y'all dig?

Re: Best Sushi Anywhere... continued (Best of Sushi list)
Sat, February 26, 2005 - 1:27 PMA consolidated list would be nice, although quite long if you count all the places listed in the previous incarnation of this message thread (which still seems to be growing!)
The Best Sushi Anywhere ...
still looking forward others to post their suggestions -

Sun, February 27, 2005 - 8:15 PMYou mean Sushi Zone. The jewel of the Deco Hub. I think the food is wonderful, but I feel like I'm breathing someone else's air.

Re: Best Sushi Anywhere... continued
Sat, February 26, 2005 - 5:19 PMdepends your location...
Satsuma, in sunnyvale, is solid. you wouldnt know it unless you know someone whos been (tho try to go on a less crowded night, when they can really put more time into making the rolls).
then again, you cant go wrong with anywhere next to Tsukiji market in tokyo. but i suppose that's cheating.
what i want to know is: where´s the best sushi in brazil? cause im getting mighty lonely for it here...
